Well, cozy up, bubelah. I’ve got a bunch of words for you to dive into.
My voice is something I’ve honed over the years. Adversity (growing up in the Soviet Union), joy (marrying the love of my life), and all the stuff in between (hey, entrepreneurship) are all grist for the mill that is my introspective, slightly slanted, extremely sassy commentary on life.
Like reading funny, sometimes biting, reveries on life? Think David Sedaris books, the Moth, or the Armchair Expert podcast.
Do you like distinctly Soviet superstitions? How about authentic Ukrainian delicacies? Even better, how about the immigrant experience? Family dynamics? Witty repartee?
Good news! My first book has all that and more.
It’s the story of a Soviet-born, San Francisco raised woman (hi, it’s me) who grew up believing bread lines were a fun way to spend an afternoon, that drafts caused pneumonia (what, like you have proof they don’t?) and that Lenin was everyone’s benevolent grandpa (honestly, this one still stings).
It’s my life story told with as much humor, nostalgia, and vulnerability as I could pack in there. Plus, you’ll get access to heirloom recipes my family has handed down through generations. Pickled herring? Dill-topped everything? Mayonnaise and more mayonnaise? Yes please!

"This book is a true delight! “Until the Last Pickle” is a beautifully written memoir that manages to be both humorous and heartwarming. Patsay's exploration of her dual identity is relatable and resonant, making it a must-read for anyone interested in the immigrant experience."

"An enchanting memoir, witty, smart, and funny. Until the Last Pickle, Reminded me of the style Erma Bombeck used in her storytelling. Can’t wait for Yulia’s next book."
Jessie, Amazon review
"More than anything else, it's just a damn enjoyable read. Yuliya's voice is so distinct, funny, and warm, it's impossible not to get sucked in. If you're looking for something new and interesting, that you haven't read a million times, Until the Last Pickle is it."
Have I oversold it? Nah!
Buckle Up, Bubelah is THE place to find all my most unhinged, unedited, uncensored thoughts about everything that makes us all human. I use words to work out what’s going on in my head (which is usually a lot) with the goal of hopefully helping you feel less alone in the process.
Join me, won’t you??
